These garlic parmesan chicken skewers are tasty, juicy, and great for events or as an everyday meal. The parmesan coating gives the dish an exquisite taste, and the addition of garlic gives the skewers that much more flavor. These tender chicken pieces are surprisingly easy to make by following some simple steps and using an air fryer.
The Ingredients Needed
For the chicken:
- 1.4lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tsp paprika
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
For the garlic parmesan butter:
- 5 tbsp of unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely minced
- 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp salt
How to Make It
1. Cut the chicken into small bits and put them in a bowl with paprika, garlic & onion powder, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and cayenne pepper. Mix the chicken with the coating well until each piece is fully covered.
2. Now, your chicken bits are ready to be threaded onto the skewers. When you do that, make sure to leave space at each end to be able to hold them and set all the pieces closely together.
3. Place the skewers in an air fryer. You should cook them for 10 minutes at 400°F.
4. While they’re cooking, mix the softened butter with some grated parmesan and add chopped parsley and minced garlic. Also, add salt and pepper to taste and make sure the butter is soft enough to coat the chicken but avoid melting it fully.
5. When the first 10 minutes are up, turn over the skewers and use a brush to apply 1/3 of the butter mixture.
6. Cook for two and a half minutes, flip them, and brush again with another 1/3 of the butter.
7. After another two and a half minutes, the chicken will look slightly charred but be cooked thoroughly. For those who want to check, the chicken should have an internal temperature of 165°F.
8. Use the leftover butter mixture to brush the skewers again after you get them out of the air fryer. Those who prefer it can sprinkle more parsley and Parmesan on the hot skewers before serving.
