The only U.S. floating tent is now available for adventurers to enjoy. The location is Troy, Ohio, and the tents float on the Great Miami River. According to those who run the peculiar location, that’s the only camping place of that kind not just in the USA, but in the whole wide world. We’re not so sure about that, but the place really seems to offer incredible experiences.
All About the Floating Tent Destination
Opened from June 23rd until September 4th, the city has ten floating tents. Each floating tent can fit up to four individuals. If you like the idea of sleeping in a tent that’s anchored atop rafts, you can check in between four and six P.M. Every guest of the location is greeted by Matt Clifton, who works at the city park’s department. He’s also Float Troy’s on-site coordinator.
Once instructed on the do’s and don’ts of this experience and get some neat advice on how to tie the raft, you’ll be left alone to enjoy your stay. You won’t be completely secluded, though, for each of the ten tents is placed some 25 to 30 feet from the other one.
How to Access the Floating Tents
To get to the floating rent, you take a raft, kayak, or canoe from Treasure Island Park. The good news is that you don’t have to pay an additional fee for the equipment you choose to travel to your tent. Plus, you’ll need no more than five minutes to get to the location.
While the floating tent itself, life vests, and the traveling equipment are included in the price (which, by the way, is $95 a night), visitors have to carry everything else they’ll need for the actual sleep.
What about meals? Guests of Float Troy can either grill or picnic at the park, order food, or visit Smiths’ Boathouse, where delicious lunch and dinner are served.
